(Another Reason Not To Emulate Europe)
Appalling. Read this from the London Daily Mail.
Short clip:
An obese couple’s seven children are all to be taken into care after their newborn daughter was removed over fears she would become dangerously overweight.
Three children had already been removed by social services before the infant was taken from her mother within hours of her birth.
Now her ‘heartbroken’ parents have learned that their three other children will be taken away from them too.
They say the children of the so-called 'fat family' are being removed over fears they would also become clinically obese.
Before she became pregnant, the mother, 40, who cannot be named for legal reasons, weighed 23st. (322 lbs.)
Removing children for obesity, or even 'potential' obesity . . . coming soon to an America near you. This is horrid, absolutely horrid--tyranny at its worst. A favorite C.S. Lewis quotation comes to mind right now.
“Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”–C.S. LewisBut in this case (and soon to be in our case) it will not simply be a matter of the moral superiority which the Left oozes from its very pores, but it will also be a matter of fiscal responsibility. After all, we cannot afford to pay for the extra medical costs accrued by such morally repugnant personal health decisions as overeating. Am I wrong?
Socialized medicine, it is evident, is an excuse for the oligarchy to stick its nose into and control nearly every aspect of the individual's life and makes the individual, every individual, a ward of the state. The state which provides you your health care rules you and owns you. You are its slave and will live as it says.

Do you believe that the state should punish parents for child abuse?
I do not believe that this is child abuse. This is tyranny.
Anything you don't like is tyranny.
At that time one of her children, a toddler, weighed 4st, her 13-year-old son weighed 16st and an 11-year-old weighing 12st.
That IS child abuse.
Whatever any government does, you like. Period. I don't think you believe tyranny exists. I think you believe the rightful place of government is to be our Father. It is to provide, it is to control, it is to take care of us because we are incapable of taking care of ourselves.
Here's what I think, OSO. I think that you do not have the right to tell those parents how to raise their children, or what or how much to feed them.
Abuse is physical violence perpetrated on a child in a way to do physical harm that goes beyond necessary discipline. The fact that the government of the UK thinks it knows better how to raise this family's children in matters that go beyond acts of physical violence shows that the government of the UK is peopled by a bunch of pompous, tyrannical boobs like you.
What comes next? Removing a child from a home because the children are not given their immunizations? haven't been to the dentist in the last year? (Forgive me, I forgot that with the long lines and rationing in Britain most people don't even go to the dentist anymore. My bad.)
But, really, what is next? What else constitutes abuse? I have a feeling that a government could convince you of just about anything, because you are so ideologically convinced of the goodness of government that you never saw a government abusing its power. To you, all government action is good, is it not?
If a government can do this, then a government can pull a child from a home for a whole host of reasons, things like not educating them properly--as in not putting them in the government schools. It can yank an infant from its mother for teaching them to hate--as defined by the government--which could mean teaching them anything the government does not like.
Maybe you were not alive during the twentieth century (I'm beginning to think you weren't), but, let me remind you that governments were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people, people directly murdered by benevolent, tyrannical government.
I'm betting you could, and would excuse that as well.
I used to wonder how in the world the people of Germany could allow Hitler to take control and finally commit all the atrocities against God and man that he committed. But then I began to realize that he was empowered by people like you who will support and excuse any and every abuse of government.
If this is child abuse then throw the parents in jail. On the other hand, if gluttony is not a crime in Britain then how can you justify the breaking up of a family?
